MakerDAO's former X handle picked up by staffer at Foresight News
Quick Take A Foresight News journalist confirmed they took MakerDAO’s original handle on X during its rebrand to Sky.
A journalist at Foresight News confirmed they picked up MakerDAO's original handle on social media platform X during its rebrand to Sky.
The journalist saw the company's name had been changed — but not its handle — according to an article they wrote on Foresight News. So they tried to change their handle to the MakerDAO handle to see if they would happen to pick it up if it was discarded, and it worked.
They likely managed to do so in a very short window of time. "As far as I understand there actually was a team sitting ready to do exactly this," said Sky founder Rune Christensen.
The journalist, who remains anonymous — which isn't uncommon among Chinese media — said they plan to keep the handle for their account while also using it to drive traffic to Foresight News.
"As for the account, I prefer to keep it. On one hand, as a crypto practitioner and DeFi enthusiast, this unique username holds collectible value; on the other hand, it could attract more traffic, which is important for media professionals," they said.
They noted that the Sky team had contacted them wanting to regain control of the handle and that discussions were ongoing.
