EigenLayer’s X account has been compromised after the protocol shared a fake airdrop campaign on its social account.

In an Oct. 18 X post, Eigenlayer shared a new airdrop campaign for users who were eligible for the previous one.

However, the airdrop claim is redirecting users to a malicious link, which appears entirely unrelated to the restaking protocol.

EigenLayer’s X post was deleted minutes after dissemination, suggesting that the attackers may have lost access to the protocol’s account.

Pseudonymous onchain investigator ZachXBT also warned users about the malicious airdrop link. The investigator wrote in an Oct. 18 Telegram post:

“Eigenlayer X/Twitter account is currently compromised do not click any links.”

Considering EigenLayer’s popularity, the malicious link may have already been visited by a large number of users. EigenLayer is the second-largest protocol on Ethereum, with over $11.1 billion in total value locked (TVL), according to DeFiLlama data.
