Murad’s Meme Coins Are All Bleeding: Is The Meme Coin Super Cycle Over Already?

Murad’s super-cycle coins are tumbling, celebrities coins have collapsed, and Andrew Tate’s meme coins are all down, and one report shows -97% of meme coins have died in 2024. Is it over? Are meme coins dead?

Murad Mahmudov is one of the most prominent crypto influencers in recent years. He has been calling for a ‘meme coin super cycle’ while gaining further notoriety after recent investigations by on-chain sleuth ZachXBT revealed all of his meme coin holdings.

ZachXBT’s investigation revealed multiple wallets that he claimed belonged to Murad. The largest holdings across these wallets were for $SPX, $GIGA, $RETARDIO, $POPCAT, and $MINI.

Murad’s Meme Coin Super Cycle Over Before It Even Began?

The above meme coins, which make up a large portion of Murad’s portfolio, are currently in the red. MINI is down over 27% in the past seven days. RETARDIO is down over 18% in the same time frame. GIGA has just lost a crucial support level and is down over 6% in the past 24 hours.

The meme coin most synonymous with Murad is SPX (SPX6900). His social media timeline is filled with SPX content, and he has made it very clear this is his biggest conviction play. That said, SPX is also down 12% in the past week.

The only major meme coin from his portfolio that has been in the green over the past seven days is POPCAT. It is also the largest market cap and most well-established meme coin within Murad’s portfolio, meaning there is less volatility on the chart.

Andrew Tate-Endorsed Meme Coins Are Dead: Will Murad’s Meme Super-Cycle Follow?

Another major player in the meme coin space is serial grifter Andrew Tate and the slew of low-effort tokens he has endorsed. All meme coins promoted by Tate are currently down anywhere from 75-99% in value. The list includes Fuck Tristan (FTRISTAN), TopG (TOPG), RNT (RNT), Roost (ROOST) and Daddy Tate (DADDY).

Beyond Tate, this past summer, many celebrities were either endorsing or launching their meme coins on Solana. An X post from SlorgoftheSlugs back in July showed a list of 30 celebrity tokens, all of which were down between 73-99.9% in value. This list included Tate’s DADDY token, as well as tokens from Iggy Azalea (MOTHER), Jason Derulo (JASON) & Lil Pump (LILPUMP), amongst others.

State Of Memecoin 2024 Report: Despite Murad, The Findings Are Bleak

To further play down Murad’s vision of an upcoming meme coin super cycle, a ‘State Of Memecoin’ report in August from ChainPlay.gg had some damning statistics. It found that over 97% of meme coins have died since the beginning of 2024, and over half of meme coins launched are malicious.

It was reported that, on average, more than 2,000 meme coin tokens die each month, while the lifespan of a meme coin is under 1-year. That figure is one-third of an average crypto project. Even with these damning findings, the same report also found that 58% of new investors believe that their portfolio must include meme coins.
