Andre Cronje, co-founder of Sonic Labs (formerly Fantom), stated that the true cost of running a blockchain (even if partially successful) for all L2 or application chains includes an initial cost of $7.5 million for oracles and stablecoins, with an annual cost of $3.5 million; an initial cost of $200,000 for RPC, indexing, and dashboards, with an annual cost of $700,000; an annual cost of $500,000 for VRF, Keepers, wallet support, and governance; and an annual cost of $800,000 for explorers, custody, and risk management, totaling $13.2 million. This only applies to Sonic. Here are our costs from last year: $10.9 million for research and development; $10.7 million for ecology; $410,000 for legal; $3.8 million for compliance; $2.4 million for infrastructure; $1.4 million for marketing; $1.2 million for bounties; $400,000 for sponsorships; $350,000 for media; $200,000 for regulation; $100,000 for events; and a total cost of $35.6 million (not including exchange listing, which fortunately we do not need to do this year).
