FIFA Taps Mythical Games To Launch A Football Mobile NFT Game
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has partnered with Mythical Games to create FIFA Rivals, a new Web3 mobile game officially licensed by the global sports organization. FIFA and Mythical Games have integrated Mythos Chain, a renowned blockchain network created exclusively for gaming, to power their new non-fungible token-based game.
FIFA Taps Mythical Games To Launch An NFT Game
In a November 22 blog post, Mythical Games confirmed that they have partnered with FIFA to launch a new non-fungible token mobile game, FIFA Rival. This game will be a free-to-play game launched on iOS and Android in the summer of 2025. Nonetheless, the Mythical Games has yet to disclose the exact date for the release of FIFA Rival. While commenting about the new game, John Linden, the Chief Executive of Mythical Games, remarked:
“We are excited to partner with the FIFA team and leverage our expertise to create an unparalleled football gaming experience. Our goal is to replicate our success with previous Rivals games and set new benchmarks in the web3 gaming sector. Through this long-term partnership with FIFA, there are major plans to integrate into the FIFA esports platform to give players in every country the ability to become a participant or fan.”
In turn, Mattias Grafström, the Secretary General of FIFA, echoed:
“We’re thrilled to partner with Mythical Games to launch FIFA Rivals, bringing football fans a mobile-first gaming experience that deepens their connection to the sport. The game is an innovative and accessible addition to our expanding gaming and esports portfolio.”
Launched in 2021, Mythical Games is a next-generation game company creating world-class games and empowering players to take ownership of their in-game assets through the use of blockchain technology. The team has helped develop significant franchises, including Call of Duty, , World of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, EA Madden, Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery, Marvel Strike Force.
FIFA Rivals To Integrate NFTs
Under the new integration, FIFA, an international body responsible for organizing and promoting football’s major international tournaments, anticipates leveraging Mythical Games capabilities to create its new blockchain game. Mythical Games, which is already running a critically acclaimed mobile NFL Rivals game that has achieved more than six million downloads, is poised to bring its gaming expertise to the football domain.
Mythical Games and FIFA will incorporate the NFT technology into the FIFA Rivals game. The new FIFA Rival will have an exclusive NFT market platform, allowing players to trade their favourite football stars as NFTs. In FIFA Rivals, gamers will have the unique opportunity to create and manage their football club. This game-changing partnership enables FIFA to explore new, globally accessible digital frontiers and enhance fan engagement through emerging tech.
