Trump's Memecoin Launch Drives Google Search Interest for "Crypto" to Highest Level Since 2021
The release of United States President Donald Trump's official memecoin project, as well as First Lady Melania Trump's self-titled memecoin, caused a surge in search interest for the term "crypto" on Google. This surge was the highest since November 2021, when Bitcoin reached an all-time high. The release of the Trump memecoin also led to a surge in interest in crypto-related apps, with crypto-focused applications dominating the finance category of Apple's App Store in the US. However, the memecoin launch also comes with its own risks, as some believe it could potentially pose a risk to national security and community members have reported losses.
