U.S. judge extends ban on Government Efficiency Department's visit to the Treasury Department's payment system

A U.S. judge has extended a temporary ban on Elon Musk's Government Efficiency Department accessing the Treasury Department's payment system. In the early hours of February 8 local time, a U.S. federal judge temporarily blocked the Government Efficiency Department led by Musk from accessing the U.S. Treasury Department's system used to process trillions of dollars in payments, citing risks that sensitive and confidential information could be improperly disclosed. The order was issued by Judge Engel in Manhattan, following a lawsuit filed by an alliance of 19 states (most led by Democrats), claiming that Musk's Government Efficiency Department had no right to access the systems of the U.S. Treasury Department.
