50% of women in crypto focus on long-term growth
A new survey by Bitpanda shows that 50% of female cryptocurrency investors prioritise long-term financial growth, with many favoring Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) as their primary investment.
According to the survey, 49% of female investors plan to hold digital assets for up to five years, while 39% intend to hold for more than five years.
Bitcoin remains the most popular choice, with 30% of women selecting it as their first crypto investment, compared to 24% of men.
Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, noted that women tend to take a more cautious approach to investing.
“Women tend to build more diverse portfolios and focus on long-term wealth creation rather than chasing short-term gains,” she said.
Women also trade less frequently than men.
“While men made 13 trades annually on average, women executed only 9. This patience and strategic thinking translates beautifully to crypto markets, where emotional reactions to volatility often lead to losses,” stated Chen, citing a Charles Stanley study.
Nkiru Uwaje, co-founder of blockchain liquidity platform Mansa, pointed to a fundamental difference in investment psychology.
“Women approach investing differently as part of a broader wealth-building strategy. When we invest in Bitcoin, we often consider its place within a diversified portfolio rather than viewing it in isolation,” she explained.
Despite growing participation, challenges remain.
Bitpanda’s survey found that 81% of female investors still face barriers to entry, with 24% citing a lack of investment knowledge and 41% pointing to financial constraints.
Mary Pedler, founder of INPUT Comms, emphasised the importance of research.
“Many women I’ve worked and communicated with do deep research before investing and seldom make FOMO-driven decisions,” she said.
To address these challenges, initiatives like Women in Ethereum Protocol (WiEP) advocate for structured education and support.
“Women need proper education, clear guidance, and support, starting with small investment amounts,” stated WiEP representatives.
