What is Kaon (AKRO)?
Kaon basic info
What is Akropolis (AKRO)?
Akropolis is a company that has developed a decentralized finance protocol based on Ethereum. The aim of this protocol is to create a self-governing financial ecosystem that enables users to save and grow their wealth, as well as borrow and lend. Some of the products that Akropolis offers include AkropolisOS, which is a framework for developing decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) that generate profits, Sparta, which is a platform for uncollateralized lending, and Delphi, which is a yield farming aggregator that also provides a dollar-cost averaging tool. The governance of the protocol is facilitated by the use of an ERC-20 token known as AKRO, which is used across all of Akropolis' products. Akropolis was first introduced to the public in March 2018 and was launched on the Ethereum mainnet in June 2020.
How does Akropolis (AKRO) Work?
Decentralized finance (DeFi) is currently offering many opportunities for individuals to earn currency through staking, liquidity provision, and yield farming. However, with the various DeFi protocols providing different possibilities for yield generation and farming, it can be confusing for new users and those who do not have time to follow the news regularly.
Akropolis offers an automated dollar-cost-average (DCA) strategy for setting up a long-term portfolio. DCA is an automated, periodic purchase of an asset that seeks to reduce operational costs by pooling and batching all funds to diminish gas costs.
According to their website, the mission of Akropolis is to provide users with the tools to grow, save, and provide for tomorrow safely, with access to various noninflationary assets, without a dependency on a central counterparty.
The Akropolis DApp allows users to easily onboard onto DeFi through Dharma and Ramp Network, estimate and compare different assets' annual percent yield (APY) across top DeFi yield-generating strategies such as Yearn Finance Vaults, easily check their balance, average APY, and yield earned, claim yield rewards all in one place, and take part in Akropolis protocol governance via Snapshot.
What makes Akropolis (AKRO) Unique?
Akropolis initially aimed to solve the impending pension deficit crisis by creating a distributed savings and pensions fund. However, in August 2020, the company announced a shift in focus towards creating the underlying framework for such a system through AkropolisOS, a Solidity-based modular framework for creating and managing distributed capital pools. The framework forms the basis for the company's Sparta and Delphi platforms, with Sparta providing access to uncollateralized loans. Akropolis reduces the risk associated with these loans by offering community incentives in the form of AKRO to those who provide accurate risk assessments. The company plans to build a pipeline of institutional partners and clients, develop technology and academic partnerships, and expand the Akropolis ecosystem. Additionally, it holds a significant number of AKRO for internal operations like marketing and partnership building.
What is the AKRO Token?
Akropolis has a suite of products that rely on a governance token, AKRO, to keep its protocol secure. The token's transactions are validated by the Ethereum blockchain's proof-of-work consensus algorithm, which requires a majority of nodes in the network to confirm any on-chain records for them to be posted. In August 2019, CertiK audited the smart contracts for AKRO and found them to be structurally sound and free of known security issues. However, in August 2020, there were unsuccessful attempts to hack the smart contracts, prompting Akropolis to move all unlocked AKRO to custodial wallets with higher-grade security. The company also launched a bug bounty program that rewards those who discover previously unknown security flaws with AKRO or stablecoins.

Uniqueness
Akropolis was conceived as a distributed savings and pensions fund — a solution to what it described in its initial announcement as ""a looming pension deficit apocalypse"" resulting from the inevitable collapse of state pensions systems. But in August 2020, the company stated that it had shifted its focus to building the underlying framework for such a system by creating AkropolisOS to allow for the rapid launch of for-profit capital pools.
AkropolisOS is a Solidity-based, modular framework for the creation and management of distributed capital pools and serves as the base for the company's Sparta and Delphi platforms, with the former providing access to uncollateralized loans. Akropolis has claimed that unlike other DeFi protocols, its products reduce the risk associated with these loans by providing community incentives in the form of AKRO to those who provide accurate risk assessments.
The company provided some insight into its business model in December 2018, reporting that it would focus on building a pipeline of institutional partners and clients, developing technology and academic partnerships, and building out the Akropolis ecosystem. It also holds a significant number of AKRO to be used for internal operations such as marketing and partnership building.
Token utility
Akropolis's goal is to create yield-generating products that don’t predominantly rely on inflationary emissions as the main source of yield and that generate returns regardless of the market conditions.
Current products include:
- Vortex - An on-chain basis trading strategy that aims to generate long-term, sustainable and rewarding yields while remaining market-neutral.
- yVaults - Streamlined and simplified access to select Yearn vaults to optimize yields.
Akropolis is the one-stop solution for any investor seeking access to passive, efficient and sustainable yield generation.
