Today, January 3, is the 16th anniversary of the first Bitcoin. Satoshi Nakamoto mined the Bitcoin Genesis Block on a small server in Helsinki, Finland on January 3, 2009. The Bitcoin Genesis Block contains the reward for the first 50 Bitcoins and a coinbase message: "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks".

2024 is nearly over. Time to reflect on how we did. Just like last year, 2024 was mostly about doing nothing. I say almost; because 2024 also meant that our profit-taking strategy came into effect. I took my first profits in March, some more in April and May - and then resumed once #Bitcoin finally cleared 70k in November. I also started trimming my Solana position around that time, as it made a new all-time high as well. So far, those TPs have already covered my initial investment from back in 2022, multiple times over — which means the cycle is already a win and I'm just playing with house money from this point. Still, there is a lot of money on the table for me, and I intend to keep it. I will continue to take weekly profits, selling 2% of my Bitcoin and Solana holdings weekly. I remain patient with ETH, and will start taking profits on that as soon as it enters price discovery as well (expecting late Jan, early Feb). Selling 10% once it enters price discovery, and 2% weekly after. The plan remains the same: slowly scaling out. Cheers to 2025, let's make it count.

Goldman Sachs' Chief Economist Jan Hatzius maintains confidence that the Federal Reserve will follow through on its earlier indications of implementing two interest rate cuts by the end of the year. This expectation is particularly reinforced by a weaker-than-expected employment report released last week. Hatzius anticipates that this trend will continue into the first half of 2025. In a report published last Sunday, Hatzius stated, "We expect the Federal Reserve to execute four consecutive rate cuts in the first half of 2025, ultimately bringing the interest rate down to a range of 3.25% to 3.5%. However, there is greater uncertainty regarding the pace and final target of the Fed's rate cuts next year." He further noted that his forecast is approximately 50 basis points higher than the market consensus.
